Historic York to host first iPhone Popup Film Festival
The first iPhone Popup Film Festival night will be held at the medieval Black Swan Inn, in York on Monday 3 September 2012.
If you want to show your film, please go to our Sign Up page and also take a look at our How To Take Part page, as there is a couple of things you need to know before you show your film.
• Alternatively, if you can’t make it to York you can submit your film here and we’ll endeavour to show it on the night.
The event is free and anyone can come and join us on the night, but to show your film as part of the festival you must sign up first, as slots are limited.
As well as showing some of the best iOS films, we’ll also be featuring a live acoustic set from local band The Pop Up Monsters.
So get shooting and editing, and join us for the first ever ‘film festival in your pocket’ and an opportunity to show your work on the ‘big screen’.
The future is digital. Strictly no red carpet.

Tony Myers

Hi Tony (I presume)
I just thought I’d leave an email and introduce myself before turning up at the Black Swan on Monday evening.
My interest in the event is its connection to research I’m currently undertaking based at York St John University. My PhD looks at film festivals specifically set up for filmmaking using mobile phones, or which have a section of programming devoted to filmmaking using mobile/portable or non-professional equipment. Therefore, the iPhone Pop-up Film Festival is very relevant to my research interests.
I’ll certainly be there next Monday, and I wonder if it might be possible to ask you a few questions before the screenings. Sadly, I won’t be able to stay late into the evening.
If you’d like to contact me at any time, I’d be happy to provide more information about my work, or to simply chat about shared interests.
Best regards,
Gavin Wilson
